Chapter 7:

Stephen address covers the history of Israel as God’s chosen nation. How far back does he cover? What major sections can this address be divided into? Who are some of the key players that Stephen addresses? What are some of the key events that he covers? What happened as a result of this address? What was the name of the young man mentioned? Why is that important?
What were Stephen’s last words? How does this follow the example of Christ? How did Stephen die? What was the significance of Stephen’s death?

Chapter 8:

Relate the accounts of Philip in this chapter in your own words? Why did he go to these places? What does it mean to fully follow the Lord? Did Philip do this? Are you doing this? What happened to Philip at the end of the chapter?

Chapter 9:

Describe what happened to Saul on the road to Damascus. Where did Jesus direct him to go? Did he do that? Who did he meet there? What happened when Saul went to Jerusalem? Who was willing to help him?

Chapter 10:

Who was Cornelius? What position did he hold? Was he a Jew? Describe Peter’s dream. What did it mean? How did the dream and Peter’s encounter with Cornelius relate? What happened at the end of the chapter to confirm that the gospel was not just for the Jews? Why is this important to us today?

Chapter 11:

What happened as a result of Stephen’s death? Were the believers spread far? Why was Barnabas sent as far as Antioch? Who did he met up with in Tarsus? Where did he take this man? How long did they stay there? What happened at the end of that year? Do you think God was teaching Saul to be patient? Is this an easy lesson to learn? Why?
Who did the church send to Jerusalem? Why is this important?

Chapter 2:

What happened on the Day of Pentecost? What were the disciples able to do? Why was this important? How did this help spread the gospel?

Summarize Peter’s sermon to the crowd. How is the whole sermon brought together with verses 38 & 39? What was the result of this sermon and the other disciples telling the people about Christ?

Chapter 3:

What was the lame man asking for from people passing by? What did he ask Peter and John for? Did they have any money to give him? Why not (see 2:44-45)? What did they do to the man instead? Did they do this in their own power? How did they do this?

How did this event lead to an opportunity for more people to hear about Christ? What does this say to us about taking every opportunity to glorify God and witness to people?

How many people were saved at the temple because of this preaching? What happened to Peter and John after they preached at the temple? When were they brought before the Sanhedrin, the ruling council of the temple? Did Peter speak in his own authority and power? When they were commanded not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus, what was Peter & John’s reaction? What does that mean to us today?

Chapter 5:

Relate the story of Ananias and Sapphira in your own words. What was the final outcome of their lying? Why did they lie? Would there have been any problem if they didn’t lie in the first place?

Congratulations! Today, you will finish reading through all four of the gospels! Take some time to think back to what you have read and learned. What stood out the most as you have read these four books? Leave a comment below to let us know how you have enjoyed the Scripture Reading Challenge so far!

Chapter 18:

While being arrested, did Jesus resist at any time? Who first asked who the soldiers were seeking? What did Jesus say when the soldiers said they were looking for Him? Why do you think He said this? What is the significance of this statement? Why did Jesus tell the men to leave His disciples alone? Did Jesus “lose” any that were given Him? What was Jesus’ priority at this time – His own safety or the safety of His disciples? Why is this an encouragement to us?

Chapter 19:

Summarize this chapter in your own words. What is the order of events? What was written above the cross? What did the chief priests want written instead? What is the difference? What did Jesus say while on the cross? What is the importance of these? What happened to Jesus’ body after He died? Who took it to the tomb? Who brought the spices? What is the significance of this man? Why is this one of the saddest and yet most joyful chapters in the Bible? What can we learn from this chapter?

Chapter 20:

Describe what happened with Thomas. Why did he not believe at first? When he finally saw Jesus, did he have to put his hands into His side to believe like he said? What did Thomas say? What was Jesus’ response?
In verses 30 & 31, John tells us the reason that he wrote this book. What reason does he give? How does reading this book help you to believe in Christ? How does this bring life in His name?

Chapter 21:

What was Peter’s decision at the beginning of this chapter? Why did he want to go back to that job? What did he do when he saw Jesus? In your own words, relate the exchange between Jesus and Peter. What was the purpose of this conversation? What was the outcome?
How does John finish the book? Did John write down everything that Jesus did?

Acts

Chapter 1:

Who wrote the book of Acts? How does this relate to his previous book?
Describe the ascension of Jesus into heaven. What did He promise before He left the earth? What did the angels tell them? Why is this an encouragement to us today?
What was Matthias chosen to do? Why was he chosen? How was he chosen? What happened to Judas?

Chapter 13:

Verses 1-17 give us one of the greatest examples of what Jesus had been teaching His disciples – the greatest shall serve all. What does verse 1 tell us the reason that Jesus choose to wash the feet of these men? What does this say about the motivation for service? What was Peter’s question to Jesus? Why did Peter not want Jesus to wash his feet? What was Jesus’ answer? What was Peter’s next comment? Why did he want to be washed like this? What does this say about Peter’s character? What does the response of Jesus mean? How does this relate to our lives?
What is the key point of verses 14-16? Why was Jesus showing this to the disciples? Do we need to learn this lesson too? How can we apply it to our lives?

Chapter 14:

Verses 1-6 hold one of the greatest encouragements in all of scripture. What is it? Why is this so encouraging? What does verse 6 mean for salvation? Christianity is an exclusive religion. Explain this. How can we apply this to our lives and our testimonies?

Chapter 15:

What is the importance of understanding the Christ is the Vine & God the Father is the Vinedresser? What does the Vinedresser do to the branches that are not producing fruit? What does this mean for our lives? What does He do to the branches that are producing fruit? What is the purpose of this pruning? Does it hurt, temporarily? Does it benefit the vine and the branch in the end, though? How does this apply to our lives? What does this say about the hard times that we go through in our life? What should the outcome of these times be? What is our usual reaction, as humans, to hard times?
Is it possible for a branch to produce fruit apart from the vine? What does Jesus tell us we can do with out Him? How do we abide in Him? How are you doing that in your life?
What does it mean to bear fruit? How are you doing that?

Chapter 16:

In verse 32, what does Jesus tell His disciples would happen to them? Why will we have tribulation in this world? Why should we be of good cheer? Where do we find our peace? Which is better – peace or tribulation? Which, then, would you rather being and have with you – the World or Christ? Why do we desire to be apart of the world?

Chapter 17:

Who does Jesus pray for in this chapter? If Jesus needed to pray on a daily basis, what does that say about our lives? How does He end His prayer? Why is this important? What other sections in this chapter do you find interesting or important? How can we apply this to our lives?

Today’s Chapters: John 8-12

Chapter 8:

In the first section of this chapter, we find a very interesting account. Where was Jesus going? What was He doing? What was the plan of the Pharisees and scribes? What did they ask Jesus? How did they know the woman was an adulteress? What did they want to happen to her? Did they really care about her or her life? Why do you think that? What was their whole reason for accusing this woman?
What was Jesus’ reaction to the scribes and Pharisees? What do you think He was writing in the sand? How did He answer their question? What did He do immediately after answering their question?
What happened to the crowd who wanted to stone the woman? Who was left there? What does the Jesus ask the woman? Where had they gone? What did Jesus instruct the woman to do? Does this mean that Jesus was condoning the woman’s sin? How does this relate to verse 12?
How are we like the woman?

Chapter 9:

What did the disciples think caused the man to be blind? What did Jesus say about this? Why was the man born blind? How can this bring glory to God? What does this mean for us when we face circumstances we might not like?
Once the man was given sight, where did he go? Why? Did he keep the story to himself? What did he do? How should we be like this man?

Chapter 10:

When the Jews asked Jesus to plainly tell them if He was the Christ, what did He say? What two things does He say should make it evident that He is the Christ? Why did they not believe?
According to Jesus, what do sheep do with their shepherd? Can anyone or anything snatch us from Jesus’ hand or the Father’s hand? Why should these two areas, knowing the shepherd and security in Christ, be an encouragement to us?

Chapter 11:

Summarize in your own words the account of Lazarus’ death. What does Jesus say is the condition of Lazarus in verse 11? What did He plainly mean (verse 14)?
How long was Lazarus in the tomb when Jesus and His disciples arrived? What did Jesus tell them to do with the stone in verse 39? Why did He have them do this? What did Jesus then do? What happened? How does this relate to verses 25 & 26? How does this relate to our lives (and deaths)?
What other interesting insights do you find in this chapter? How can you apply them to your life?

Chapter 12:

Verse 9 tells us that the Jews were coming for two reasons. What were the two reasons? What did the chief priests want to do to Lazarus? Does this strike you as funny? Why? If they had been successful in killing Lazarus what would Jesus have done? What does this mean about the best laid plots and plans of the chief priests compared to the plan of God? How does this apply to our lives? Do we often make plans and then try to fit God into them? Do they work out? What should we do instead?

Chapter 3:

What position did Nicodemus hold in society? When did Nicodemus come to Jesus? Why did he come at this time?
What did Jesus say must happen for someone to see the kingdom of God? Why did this confuse Nicodemus? What was Jesus talking about instead?
What is the key verse in this chapter? Why? How does it summarize the entire gospel? What does it mean in your life? What does it mean in the life of someone who has never heard it before? What are you going to do about that?

Chapter 4:

What was the reason the woman came to the? When did she come to the well? Why?
What did Jesus ask her? Why was this unusual? Summarize their conversation in your own words. What do you find interesting about it? What key points do you find in it?
What was the result of Jesus’ conversation with this woman? Was the time that Jesus spent with this woman worth it? What does this say about the time we spend talking to people about Jesus?

Chapter 5:

What are the four witnesses that testify about Jesus in verses 31-47? How do they testify about Jesus? What do they “say”? Why is each one a valid witness to testify about Jesus? How can we use each of these testimonies when we witness?

Chapter 6:

Why did the people seek after Jesus? What did He tell them to seek after instead? Why? What was He telling them to really seek after? Why is this an encouraging thing to seek after? What happens to our needs once we find it?

Chapter 7:

Why did the Jews marvel when Jesus taught at the temple? Where did Jesus’ doctrine come from? Who’s glory does the person who speaks for himself seek? What does He say about the one who seeks the glory of God? What does this mean for your life? Who’s glory are you seeking? Do you need to change this? How are you going to go about doing that?
What other interesting sections do you see in this chapter? How can you apply those lessons to your life?

Congratulations! You are over a quarter of the way through the New Testament! Today, you will finish your third book and be 3/4 of the way through the Gospels! All in just TWO WEEKS! Take just a moment to look back at the past two weeks. How has your walk with Christ grow better as you have spent time with Him, daily?

Chapter 22:

What are the circumstances of Peter’s denieing Jesus? Why did he deny Him? Did he know he was going to deny Jesus? How? What was Peter’s response when Jesus looked at him and he remembered Jesus’ words? How are we often like Peter? What can we do to change this?

Chapter 23:

What did the sign on the cross say? Was it accurate? What did the Jews do with their King? How are we like the Jews in our treatment of the King?
What did the two criminals say to Jesus? Which one had the repentant heart? What happened to him? Why?

Chapter 24:

In your own words, describe the account of the two followers of Jesus as they left Jerusalem to go to Emmaus. What were they talking about amounst themselves? When did Jesus reveal Himself to them?
In verse 27, Luke says that Jesus began at Moses and the prophets and told them all that concerned Himself. What does this say about the importance of the Old Testament? Can a person be led to a saving knowledge of Christ from the Old Testament? Do you know enough about the Old Testament to be able to do that? What are you going to do about that?

John

Chapter 1:

Who is the Word? Is John the Baptist the Word? How do you know that? What happened to the Word? What is the significance of that?
What does John declare when he first saw Jesus? What is the importance of this declaration? What does this mean for us today?

Chapter 2:

Describe the circumstances of the wedding feast that Jesus and His disciple attended. What happened to the wine that was provided? What did Jesus do about this? What does this say about His power and authority? How does this apply to your life?

Leave a comment to let us know how you are enjoying the study!

Chapter 17:

What does Jesus teach about faith? What are the examples that He uses to illustrate His teaching? How can we grow in our faith? How can we apply this lesson to our lives?

Chapter 18:

What does the parable of the widow teach us about prayer? Why do we need to be consistent in our prayers? Is it easy to be discouraged? Why? What example from your life can you give about being persistent, both in prayer and other areas of your life?

Chapter 19:

Jesus tells the parable of the minas or wages in this chapter. A mina was about 3 months wages. Is this a lot of money? Where was the noble man going? What did he leave to his servants while he was gone? How did each of them treat the minas that were given him? What does this parable teach us? How can this be applied to your life?

Chapter 20:

Did the Sadducees believe in a resurrection? What did they ask Jesus? Put their question into your own words. How did He answer them? What does this mean about what life will be like in heaven? How did the scrives answer Jesus? Why didn’t they ask Him any more questions?

Chapter 21:

What are some of the signs that Jesus said will occur at the end of the age? What does He say about watching for these events? Are you watching for them today? How?

Chapter 12:

In verse 13, a man from the crowd asks Jesus a question. What does he ask? What was Christ’s response? Jesus then told a parable. What was it about? Did the man ever find ease to eat, drink and be merry? Why not? What is the lesson of the parable?
Jesus then tells His disciples not to worry. How does this relate? What example does He give about not worrying? What other examples does He give?

Chapter 13:

Verses 10-17 give us an interesting account of a woman who was bent over. How long was she bent over? How did Jesus heal her? Why did the ruler of the synagogue get upset? What did he tell the woman? What was Jesus’ response to this? How did the people react to Jesus’ statements?

Chapter 14:

What does Jesus talk about in verses 7-14? Put the parable into your own words. What is the point of it? How can this be applied to our lives? How does this apply to the church and our position in it?

Chapter 15:

This chapter is composed of three parables: the parable of the Lost Sheep, the parable of the Lost Coin, and the parable of the Lost Son. What do all three of these parables have in common? How does this apply to the life of the Christian? What do you represent in the parables? Which one is the most famous parable of the three? Why?

Chapter 16:

Summarize the story of the rich man and Lazarus. What happened to each of them? What did the rich man ask Lazarus to do? Why couldn’t he? What did the rich man want Abraham to do for his brothers? Why did Abraham not do this? What is the point of the story? How does this apply to our lives? How can we grow through reading this section?

Chapter 7:

This chapter begins with an interesting story of acCenturion. What has happened to make the centurion seek out Jesus? What did the servants say to Jesus when they met Him in verses 4 & 5? Did Jesus go with them? How did the approach Jesus in verse 6? What does this say about his character and his respect for Jesus? What does he ask Jesus to do? Why does he ask for only this (verse 8)? How does Jesus respond? What is significant about this declaration? How can we have this same kind of faith in our lives? What do you need to do to have this kind of faith?

Chapter 8:

Jesus tells the parable of the sower and soils here again as He did in Matthew 13. Put this parable into your own words? What does the parable mean? Did the disciples understand it? What did Jesus say the purpose of teaching in parables was? How can these parables have an impact on your life?
What other interesting and amazing things happen in the chapter? Why do you find them interesting and amazing?

Chapter 9:

The day after Jesus is transfigured a man cries out to Jesus. What does he ask for? Why does he ask this? How does Jesus respond? Did Jesus help him? How? What happened next?
Jesus then proclaims that He will be betrayed and will be killed. Why didn’t the discples understand this at the time?

Chapter 10:

When Jesus sends 70 of His followers out into the surrounding cities, how does He describe how He is sending them out (verse 3)? What instructions does He give them? Why does He tell them these things? What lessons can we learn from Jesus sending these followers out?
In verse 17, the 70 return. What is the state in which they returned? Why were they so joyful? What does Jesus tell them to be joyful about instead? Why is there greater joy in this rather then being able to command spirits? What do we find greater joy in – our salvation or our authority on earth?
How does this relate to what Jesus teaches about next – the good samaritan? What is the meaning of the parable? How can it be applied to your life?

Chapter 11:

When asked to teach the disciples how to pray, Christ gives them the model prayer. How does it go? What is the structure that you can see that makes it a model prayer? Since it is a “model” prayer, we can pray it exactly but we can also expound upon it. Describe how to do this. Put the prayer into your own words.
Describe in your own words what else this chapter covers. What is important in this section? How can it change your life?

Chapter 2:

Why do you think God sent the angels to the shepherds? Do you think there is any connection between God sending the angels to the shepherds and how John the Baptist describes Jesus in John 1:29? What was the response of the shepherds after hearing this proclamation? Why were they so excited? What did they do after they visited Jesus?
Describe in your own words what happened after the Passover when Jesus was 12 years old. How long did Mary and Joseph look for Him? Where was Jesus? What was He doing there? What was His reasoning for being there?

Chapter 3:

What was Luke’s occupation? Is it any wonder, then, that Luke gives us so much detail as to times and dates when he writes the gospel that bears his name? Are details a good thing? What is the benefit of having so much detailed information?
In the genealogy of Jesus in Luke 3:23-38, why does Luke say that “being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph”? Who is Jesus’ Father? Who is His mother? Are there any other interesting names found in this genealogy? Which ones and why?

Chapter 4:

In verses 16-30, we see a different culture than ours. When Jesus read in the synagogue, was He standing or sitting? When He taught in the synagogue, did He stand or sit? How does this differ from today?
What verses did Jesus read? What are the action verbs that we see in this quotation? How do they apply to Jesus, since He told us they applied to Him? What is the importance of Jesus pointing out the fact that these verses applied to Him?

Chapter 5:

Why did Jesus teach from the boat instead of on the shore? Do you think He chose a boat at random or do you think He chose a specific one? What does this say about all of the actions of Jesus? What does this say about they way He guides and directs my life, today? Why should this be an encouragement?
When Jesus asked Simon (soon to be Peter) to let down his nets, what was Simon’s response? Why did he cooperate? What does this say about Simon’s respect for Jesus? Was that respect and trust well placed? How do we know that? What was Simon’s reaction when they nets were filled? How did Jesus change Simon’s occupation? What did the fishermen do when they arrived on the shore? How can this be an example to us today?

Chapter 6:

What is Jesus talking about in verses 20-26? Summarize this. How do the first four verses differ from the last three? What is Jesus teaching here? Do we need this teaching to our lives? How can we do that?
Jesus ends the chapter by teaching about two foundations. What are they? What is the difference? What does each foundation represent? Which one are you standing on? Is it the right one? How can you help your friend stand on the right one?

Congratulations!
You are have completed another book and are halfway through the Gospels!

Chapter 13:

What does Jesus tell us to take heed about? What does it mean to heed something or to take heed? What will be the state of the world when we need to take heed of this? What will happen to Christians during this time? In verse 9 & 13, what does He say will be the cause of the persecution of Christians? Why is this important? How is this an encouragement for Christians facing persecution?
What are some of the other key points that Jesus talks about concerning the end times?

Chapter 14:

How did they chief priests and the scribes plan on taking Jesus? Why could they not accuse Him like anyone else? What was different about Jesus? Why did they not want to take Him during the feast? Who were they more concerned about; God or the people?
How did Jesus prepare for the Passover feast? What does this say about what Jesus knows? Why is this encouraging to you, especially as you prepare to face the persecution Jesus talked about in the previous chapter?
How did Judas identify Jesus? What happened after this? How did Jesus respond? Why did He respond like this?

Chapter 15:

When Pilate tried Jesus, what did he ask Jesus? How did Jesus respond? What is significant about this statement?
What was the custom for Pilate to do at the feast of Passover? What choice did he give the people? What does verse 10 say he knew was happening? Which one did the people choose? What did the chief priests do to cause this? How did the crowd respond when Pilate asked about Jesus? What does Pilate then ask them? What does this show about Jesus’ guilt?

Chapter 16:

Why did the ladies go to the tomb? What did the ladies see when they looked in the tomb? What were they expecting to find? Do you think they were surprised not to find this? Why? Should they have been surprised? Why not? (Take a look at what they angel told the ladies)
How does Mark end the book? Is this still going on today? Where is Jesus now? Why is this encouraging?

Take a few minutes to look back over the book of Mark and see some of the key points you have written down on your own and ones we have looked over. What do you think the key chapter of this book is? What do you think the most important section is? What part impacted your life the most? How have you grown in Christ through reading this book? What have you learned from this book that you didn’t know before?

Luke

Chapter 1:

Luke begins his account of the life of Jesus by writing a brief explanation of why his is writting this book. What does he say? To whom is he writing?
Luke gives us more background into the birth and life of John the Baptist. In your own words, summarize the circumstances of John’s birth. Why are these so amazing? Who told Zacharias what was going to happen? Where was Zacharias when he was told this?
Where do we next see this messenger? Who is he talking to this time? What does he tell her? Why is this suprising and amazing? Where does she go after hearing this? What happened to Elizabeth when they met?
Mary then gives us a great account of what it means to glorify God in verses 46-55. What are some words or phrases that stand out to you? What is important about these?
How did Zacharias get his voice back? Once he has his voice back, what does he do in verses 67-79? What are some words or phrases that stand out to you in this section? Why?

How have you enjoyed the first week of study?
Leave a comment to let us know!

Chapter 8:

After Jesus feeds four thousand, what did the Pharisees want from Jesus? What is ironic about this? What was Jesus’ response? What did Jesus then do?
What does Jesus tell His disciples about the cost of discipleship? What, at that time, was the cross a symbol of? What is the cross a symbol of now? What is the difference? Why did Jesus tell them they must carry this? What does “carrying your cross” signify about your relationship to Christ? How does this relate to the question that Christ posed in verse 37? Cross-reference this with Romans 12:1-2. What should the state of the Christian life be? Is your life an example of this? What do you need to change to make it so? How are you going to do that?

Chapter 9:

What was Jesus’ example of servanthood? When we receive a child in the name of Christ, who are we receiving? Who is the One who sent Him? What does this mean about our attitude towards children? What does this mean about our attitude towards each other?
In verses 42-50, Jesus gives us a description of hell that He repeats three times. What is that description? If Jesus talked about a literal place that is hell, does that mean it really exists? Name some characteristics of hell that we can see in this section. Does this sound like a desirable place to spend eternity? What, then, are you doing to prevent other from ending up there?

Chapter 10:

What does Jesus say about marriage and divorce? What Old Testament book does He quote from? If Jesus quotes from there, what does that mean about the significance of that book? Do we pay enough attention to the Old Testament, today, to actually memorize it? Why not? What does that say about how we view the Old Testament and the Bible as a whole? How should we view it? What, then, should we do with it?

Chapter 11:

When Jesus told two of the disciples to go find the colt for Him to ride, did He give them detailed specifics? What does that say about what Jesus knows and sees? What does that mean for our lives? How should we live our lives in reflection of that fact?
When the scribes, priests, and elders asked Jesus about His authority, what was His response? How did the group answer His question? How does the question that Jesus asked relate to the question that the group asked? What were they really asking Jesus about? Why did they want to know this information?

Chapter 12:

Jesus begins this chapter with a parable. In your own words, describe this parable. What does it mean? Who is represented by the vineyard owner? Who is represented by the servants? Who is represented by the owner’s son? What was the scribes, priests, and elders reaction to the parable?
What does Jesus say is the greatest commandment? Why is this the greatest? What is the second one? Why is this the second? How are these two related? How can we live these two commandments out in our lives? How are you doing that, or not doing that, today? How can you do it better?

Chapter 3

In chapter 3 of Mark, Jesus selects His twelve disciples. What reason does Mark give us for Jesus selecting disciples? Who are the twelve?
Where did the Scribes claim that Jesus got His power? What is the problem with this claim? How does Jesus refute this claim? Where does Jesus get His power from? How does this relate to what we studied yesterday in Matthew 28? How can this have an impact on our lives?
What other key points are found in this chapter?

Chapter 4

Jesus gives the parable of the soils in this chapter. What are the soils? What do they represent? Why did He teach using parables? Who did He explain it to? What is the point of the parable? How can this have an impact on our lives?
In verses 35-41, Jesus calms the stormy sea. What does this show about Jesus’ power and authority over nature?. Why is this an encouragement to us?

Chapter 5

This chapter starts off with the legion of demons being cast out of a man. Summarize, in your own words, the details of the story. What does this show about Jesus’ power and authority over the demons? Why should this be an encouragement to us?
Why does Jairus ask Jesus to come with him? What is Jesus’ response? Does He have an uneventful trip? What happened? Did they make it to Jairus’ daughter in time? What was the crowd at the house doing when they arrived? Does that stop Jesus? Who was with Jesus in the room? Why? How old was the daughter? What was the reaction of the people when they saw her alive? What does this say about Jesus’ power over death? Why should this be an encouargement to us? How can this impact our lives today?

Chapter 6

How did John the Baptist die? What were the circumstances of his death? Why did Herod fear John?
What happened when Jesus and His disciples landed at Gennesaret? Why did this occur? What did Jesus do there? What does this say about people’s reaction to the amazing things that Jesus was doing? What does this say about Jesus’ power and authority over disease and the human body? Why should this be an encouragement to us?

Chapter 7

Where the Pharisees more concerned with what was right or what was tradition? How do we see this in chapter 7? When they posed the question to Jesus, how does He answer them? How are we often like the Pharisees? What do we do that makes us like them? How can we change this? What steps do you need to take to make this change?
What other key points do you find in this chapter? What do they say about Jesus’ power and authority?

Congratulations! In only six days you have completed reading though the book of Matthew!

Take a minute to think about all you have read so far. What have you read that has impacted you the most?

Chapter 26

What was the reaction of the disciples to Mary anointing Jesus’ feet with oil? How did Jesus respond? How are we like the disciples today? How can we be more like Jesus in similar situations?
What did Peter say when Jesus told the disciples that they stumble that night? How would you have responded if Jesus told you that you would deny Him?
Why did the chief priests, the elders, and the council need to have false witnesses testify against Jesus? What is significant about verses 62-64?

Chapter 27

Why is chapter 27 one of the saddest chapters in the Bible, yet one that holds the greatest joy? What are some of the key points that you see in the chapter? In you own words, summarize the chapter.
In verses 62-66, the Pharisees ask Pilate to make the tomb secure for how many days? Why? What does this say about what the Pharisees thought of the length of time?

Chapter 28

Put yourself in the shoes (sandals, really) of the two Marys going to the tomb – saddened by the task that you must now preform, when suddenly, an angel appears at the tomb and tells you Jesus is not dead! Describe the emotions that the ladies must have felt. What would your reaction have been?
Why did the chief priests ahve to bribe the soldiers? What is your opinion of the chief priests?
How does Jesus conclude the book of Matthew? How has this been carried out by people through out church history? How does it apply to your life? What more can you do to further the gospel?

Take some time and consider the book of Matthew. What were some of the key points? What was your favorite section/chapter? What have you learned about Jesus in the book? What are some life changes that you have made because you have read this book? How are you going to keep up these changes?

Mark

Chapter 1

How does the gospel of Mark start off? Who is the character we are first presented with?
Mark is a book of action – he doesn’t waste any time but jumps straight to the point. What can we learn from Jesus casting out the demons? Why should this be an encouragement to us?
If Peter had a mother-in-law, what does that mean as far as Peter’s marital status?

Chapter 2

Chapter 2 starts off with the love that four men had for their fifth friend. What did they do? How did they show their love for their friend? Do you think this was an easy task? Why did they do it? Would you do that for your friends?
Which is easier to say, “Your sins are forgiven,” or to say, “Take up your bed and walk”? Why? Why did Jesus perform the miracle in this order? What was He trying to show? Who was He trying to show it to? What can we learn from this? How can we apply it to our daily lives?
