Yesterday, in Sunday School, as a part of our look at how to effectively evangelize, we talked about our personal testimony. Our testimony – the story of how God brought you to salvation – is one of the greatest tools that we have in witnessing to the lost. The problem with our testimony is that many Christians have never taken the time to consider what they would say when suddenly presented with the opportunity to witness. Thus, when the moment arrives, they stumble over their words making it seem like this is something that is not too important to them. This should never be the case; witnessing to the lost is one of the most important things we can do on Earth. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, we “shall be witnesses to Me…to the end of the earth.” There is no option, if we are saved, we ARE going to witness.
With this in mind, the “homework” for this week was to take some time, sit down, and write out your personal testimony. Take as much time and space as you need to get all the details on paper (we’ll condense it at a later time). How old were you? Where were you? What were the circumstances that lead up to your decision? Did you talk to someone? Answer these types of questions to help lay your testimony out in a clear and understandable manner.
To help get you started, we handed out a piece of paper with instructions and a place to write on it. If you would like to download a copy of this, in either Word Document format or PDF, please feel free.
Make sure you put the correct emphasis on witnessing and preparing yourself for the opportunities God gives you – write out your testimony!
