SRC: The Pentateuch – Day 13

Today’s Chapters: Exodus 11-15

Pete’s Thoughts:

Exodus 11-12

Here is the final and most devastating plague – the death of the firstborn.  The amazing thing is that out of all this death and suffering taking place around this 10th plague, there is joy in the origin of the Passover.  This is a great reflection of our lives as Christians.  We rejoice in the death and suffering of Christ.  Our lives were spared when we were passed over and our punishment placed upon Christ.

Exodus 13

Did you ever wonder why God led the children of Israel through the wilderness to the Red Sea?  There was a faster way to go but God did not want the children of Israel to go that way.  He gives us His reason in verse 17 – He didn’t want them to see war yet or they might reject Him and return to Egypt.  Sometimes God leads us in directions we may not expect or understand.  He still has a plan, though, and just like He parted the Red Sea, He will provide for us along the way.

Exodus 14

What an amazing thing it must have been to see the ocean break open and be able walk where the fish swim and not have to worry about slippery, muddy footing, it is dry ground.

Exodus 15

Look at the song that Moses and the children of Israel sang to God.  He had just miraculously delivered them from the hand of Pharaoh by splitting the sea in half.  I think that would cause anyone to break out in song of praise to God.  When was the last time that you sang a song to God for the mighty ways He has delivered you?
