SRC: The Pentateuch – Day 16

Today’s Chapters: Exodus 26-30

Pete’s Thoughts:

Exodus 26

It is amazing to look at all the detail that went into the design of the Tabernacle.  God wanted it to be a uniquely special place for the people to meet with and worship Him.  Do we treat our place of worship with the same reverence?  It is a special place?  When we met for worship on Sunday morning, do we realize who we are worshiping or has it become just mundane?

Exodus 27

Aaron and his sons were to tend the lampstand.  This is a solemn charge.  They were not to let the fire go out.  They had to make sure the wicks were properly trimmed, the oil kept at the correct amount, and the fire always burning.  But for doing all this, they were forever known as those who tended to the house of the Lord.  I think that is a great honor.

Exodus 28

The priests, Aaron and his sons, were to even wear special clothes.  These clothes signified their separation to the Lord.  They had specific designs and emblems.  When an Israelite saw someone in these clothes, they would know instantly that this person was a priest.  While we may not wear special clothes, people should see a separation from the world in us.  They should see it in how we act, the things we say, what we do.  Are they seeing this in you?  Is it an instantaneous identification?

Exodus 29

Verse 45 is an amazing verse.  God declares to everyone that He will dwell with the children of Israel and be their God.  What an honor the Israelites had.  They were to be an example to the other nations of what it is like to serve the one true God.

Exodus 30

When God set up all the orders for the Tabernacle, He knew that the priests would need to be provided for and they would need funds to meet some of their needs.  And He took care of that, too.  Our God is so mighty, He answers us even before we call on Him.
