SRC: The Psalms – Day 28

Today’s Chapters: Psalms 136-140

Pete’s Thoughts:

Psalm 136

We need to be reminded that God’s mercies endure forever.  Even though we are unfaithful to Him, He is still faithful and His mercy endures forever.

Psalm 137:1

It is important to remember that this world is not our home.  This psalm is about the captives who were carried off and how they long for their home in Zion.  We, too, are away from home on this earth.  We long for the day when we shall be home with God and everything will be right.

Psalm 138:4

There is coming a day when every tongue on earth shall sing forth praises to God.  Some will do it voluntarily, some will be forced to when they see God.  We should rejoice in the fact that we have the opportunity to get an early start on that joyful praise and sing to God with our whole heart.

Psalm 139

What an encouragement and motivation it is to know that God knows us more intimately than anyone else ever will.  We should be encouraged in the fact that God know every single one of our needs and desires to met them for us but also motivated in the fact that nothing is hidden from God.  He sees all and that should push us to live as holy as possible to glorify His righteous name.

Psalm 140:12

It is a wonder that God takes up the cause of the poor and afflicted.  We are those He fights for.
