SRC: The Psalms – Day 5

Today’s Chapters: Psalms 21-25

Pete’s Thoughts:

Psalm 21

Examine all the things that God does in this chapter – He gives strength, listens to His children, protects from enemies, and so much more!

Psalm 22:21

This psalm describes a dark time in David’s life.  Look at the first half of the chapter and see what David was going through.  It is great to look at the turning point, however.  It is in verse 21 where it says, “You have answered me.”  In the midst of all that David was facing, his outlook changed when he remember the God hears him.

Psalm 23

This is probably the most famous psalm.  What is your favorite section from it?

Psalm 24:4

This verse is in response to the question asked in the previous verse: “Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?”  The main criteria that is given is someone with clean hands.  We need to make sure that we are living our lives as to have clean hands and the ability to approach the dwelling place of God.

Psalm 25:11

David calls on God to pardon his sins.  The interesting thing is that he doesn’t ask God to pardon his sin based upon David’s great deeds in battle or because of they way he led the country.  He asks God to pardon his sins for the sake of the Name of the Lord.  He does this because he know that incorporated in the Lord’s name is the Lord’s faithfulness.  David is asking God to remain faithful when He said that He would forgive the sins of those who called upon Him.
